The Royal Tomb of the Western Han Dynasty in Changsha, Hunan Province is one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country excavated by the Changsha Cultural Relics Team in 1993. A large number of lacquerware unearthed therein are of great value to the in-depth study of early Western Han Dynasty artifacts. In particular, three five-stringed lacquerware were unearthed, which are the first physical objects of Xianghe instruments from the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties found in the country. They are of great significance to the study of the history of ancient Chinese music. The Wangling Park, where the Han Tombs are located, has an excellent environment and lush vegetation. The Changsha Royal Tomb of the Western Han Dynasty is located in the Wangchengpo Ancient Tombs on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha City. It consists of a main tomb and three accompanying pits with a pin-shaped ring arch surrounding the main tomb. The owner of this tomb is a queen of the Changsha Kingdom in the early Western Han Dynasty. A large number of lacquerware, bronzes and other cultural relics were also excavated along with the coffin. Unfortunately, at the time of excavation, the tomb had been extensively robbed.
