Scenic spot introduction:

Shangxian Hall was founded by American Christian missionary Li Jiabai in Beijing in 1897 to spread Christian cultural ideas. It was translated into English as "China International Society". It was burned down by the Boxers in 1900. In 1903, Li Jiabai came to Shanghai to rebuild Shangxian Hall. He chose the site on the north side of Xiafei Road. After fundraising, he built a lecture hall and a building for foreign language, political and historical studies. After Li Jiabai's death in 1927, Shangxian Hall was disbanded. In 1921, real estate developers used the fame of Shangxian Hall to build lane houses. Shangxianfang covers an area of 6,120 square meters and a total construction area of 10,180 square meters. There are 3 rows of single-bay and double-bay townhouses in the lane. The main lane and the branch lanes are in the shape of "丰". There is a street-crossing building along the street in the main lane. The eaves at the entrance of the lane are cement-pressed. The facade is decorated with Baroque lines and floral decorations. There are coupons at the entrance of the branch lane, and the brick-concrete structure. The ground floor along the street is a shop, and the second and third floors are residential. Each house in the lane is 2-storey, with red brick walls and a 1-meter-high cement wall at the base. There is a patio behind the dark door, and the living room is through the floor-to-ceiling wooden window. Behind it is the kitchen, and upstairs is the front living room. If it is an end unit, there are front and back wing rooms on the side. Above the kitchen is the pavilion, and above that is the open-air terrace.
