Scenic spot introduction:

Jiayuguan Cultural Relics Scenic Area is located at the junction of the middle and west of the Hexi Corridor (west of the middle part), with a history of 631 years. It is known as the "Hexi Important Town" and the "Key to the Border". Because it is located at the transportation hub of the ancient Silk Road and the western starting point of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, it integrates the Silk Road culture and the Great Wall culture into one, and it is a comprehensive tourist attraction integrating cultural display, sightseeing, leisure and entertainment.
Jiayu Pass was built nine years earlier than Shanhaiguan Pass. In the early Ming Dynasty, Feng Sheng, Duke of Song and General of the Conquering the Enemy, chose to build the pass at the western foot of Jiayuyuan, a strategic location in the middle of the Hexi Corridor, connecting Jiuquan in the east, Yumen in the west, Black Mountain in the back, and Qilian in the south. The construction of the pass began in the fifth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1372 AD) and took 168 years to complete in 1540 AD. As recorded in the historical document "Qinbian Jilue": "At first, there was water and then the pass was built, and then the tower was built after the pass was built, and then the Great Wall was built after the tower was built, and then the Great Wall could be defended."
