Zhazidong The concentration camp was originally a small coal mine on the outskirts of Chongqing, and was named because it contained more slag than coal. Because the location was relatively hidden, in 1939, the Kuomintang military secret agents forced the mine owner to death, occupied the coal mine, and set up a prison here. Those imprisoned here included revolutionaries arrested after the "June 1" mass arrest case, the "Tianjin Newspaper" case, the "Little Revolutionary Revolution" case, and the three failed armed uprisings in Upper and Lower Sichuan, such as Jiang Zhuyun, He Xuesong, Xu Jianye, etc., with a maximum of more than 300 people. On November 27, 1949, the Kuomintang secret agents planned a massacre that shocked China and the world on the eve of their escape, and only 15 people escaped. The literary works "Sister Jiang", "Eternal Life in the Flames", and "Red Rock" are all based on this.

Zhazidong The concentration camp was divided into two courtyards, the inner courtyard consisting of 16 male cells, 2 female cells and a ventilation dam, and the outer courtyard containing offices and interrogation rooms. More than 200 revolutionary patriots were killed here, showing that victory was hard-won.
