Anhui Provincial Museum was established on November 14, 1956. It was one of the four model museums in China at that time. It was also the only museum that Chairman Mao Zedong visited and gave instructions on the museum cause. It was also a museum that the core of the three generations of the Party’s leadership collective visited. Since its establishment, Anhui Provincial Museum has been based on cultural relics resources, exhibitions as a platform, cultural protection and scientific research as a driving force, and education services as a guarantee. It has now become a national first-class museum.

The Anhui Provincial Museum currently has a collection of nearly 220,000 cultural relics. Its featured collections include bronzes from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, coins from the Chu state, stone reliefs from the Han dynasty, four treasures of the study, gold and silver wares from the Yuan dynasty, Xin'an paintings and calligraphy, Huizhou carvings and rare ancient books, Huizhou contracts, and Pan Yuliang's works of art.

The main contents of the museum are the "Anhui Paleontology Exhibition", "Pan Yuliang Art Works Exhibition", Anhui Modern History and Anhui Province's Economic and Cultural Construction Achievements Exhibition since the founding of the People's Republic of China. New Building The foundation stone was laid in 2007, with a construction area of 41,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters. The architectural shape reflects the unique style of Huizhou architecture with five sides connected and four waters flowing into the hall. There is a basic exhibition Anhui Civilization History Exhibition ”, four special thematic exhibitions: “Ancient Architecture of Huizhou”, “Xin’an School of Painting”, “Four Treasures of the Study of Anhui” and “Treasures of Jianghuai”.
