Hungary's Hortobgy National Park is the most representative plain and wetland area in the country and an important World Heritage Site. Hortobágy National Park is located in eastern Hungary, near the village of Hortobágy. The park can be divided into four ecological environments, namely the Tisafiride Bird Sanctuary, the Pustau area, the Salt Lake Marsh and the Hellas Wetland. In the open area, plants such as Suaeda, limonium and plantain grow, and birds such as herons and crows live. Artificial fish ponds also make full use of its landform features.
