Chaozhou Kaiyuan Temple Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Kaiyuan Temple in Chaozhou was built in the 26th year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (738). It was called "Kaiyuan Wanshou Zen Temple" in the Yuan Dynasty, "Kaiyuan Zhenguo Zen Temple" in the Ming Dynasty, and "Kaiyuan Zhenguo Zen Temple" and "Kaiyuan Temple" after the Qing Dynasty. Since its establishment, the temple has been repaired in successive dynasties. The entire temple retains the Tang Dynasty layout, and condenses the architectural art of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. It is very popular. During the "Cultural Revolution", Kaiyuan Temple was severely damaged. In 1982, overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao donated money for comprehensive repairs, which restored Kaiyuan Temple to its former glory.

Kaiyuan Temple is located on Kaiyuan Road in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. The temple covers an area of 20,000 square meters. Its architectural layout is roughly divided into three parts: the central axis is the Zhao Wall, the Mountain Gate, the Tianwang Hall, Main Hall , Sutra Library , Jade Buddha Building. On the east side are the guest hall, Ksitigarbha Pavilion, Five Views Hall, Xiangji Kitchen, Dining Hall, Monk's Quarters, Busu Jingshe, and Ancestral Hall. On the west side are the Abbot's Room, Guanyin Pavilion , Huiye Hall, Monk's Quarters, Yunshui Hall and Zhutian Pavilion form a large courtyard-style ancient building complex.
