Meizhou Lingguang Temple, originally named "Shengshou Temple", has a history of more than 1,100 years. It is known as one of the four famous temples in Guangdong, along with Guangzhou Guangxiao Temple, Shaoguan Nanhua Temple and Chaozhou Kaiyuan Temple. The temple is large in scale, with exquisite architectural structure, shining wisdom, auspicious folk customs, and prosperous incense all year round. It is especially famous for the "Three Wonders of Lingguang" and is a Buddhist cultural tourist attraction highly praised by tourists and pilgrims in the Lingnan region.

Lingguang Temple is located at the foot of Yinna Mountain, 40 kilometers southeast of Meixian County, Guangdong. Its original name was "Shengshou Temple". According to legend, during the Xiantong period of the Tang Dynasty (861), the eminent monk from Fujian, Master Chankui (secular name Pan Liaoquan), traveled around the famous mountains in Guangdong. Seeing the beautiful scenery and outstanding people here, he built a hut in the mountains and practiced Buddhism. After Master Chankui passed away in the second year of Xiantong (861), the villagers built a temple on the site of his thatched hut to commemorate him. The temple was originally named "Shengshou Temple". In the 18th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1385), Mei Ding, the censor of East Guangdong, donated money to expand the temple and renamed it Lingguang Temple. Pineapple Top , the Hall of Heavens, the Hall of Arhats, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and other buildings.
Lingguang Temple is built on the mountain, with an ingenious architectural layout. The main hall has a magical structure, with a double-layer eaves and an extra layer of space. The Vajra Hall, Arhat Hall, Zhuyuan Buddha Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Sutra Hall, Guest Hall, and Vegetarian Hall are simple and elegant, with a total construction area of more than 6,000 square meters. It is large in scale and exquisite in structure. It is prosperous all year round, with wisdom shining everywhere and auspicious customs. There are two thousand-year-old cypresses on the lawn in front of the temple. It is said that they were planted by the founder Pan Liaoquan. One is withered and the other is flourishing. People call it " Tree of Life and Death "; When the incense is burning in the temple, there is still no trace of smoke outside the temple; there are towering ancient trees behind the temple, and not a single fallen leaf is left on the roof of the temple. The above "Three Wonders of Lingguang Temple" add a magical color to it.
