Qianming Temple in Xiangcheng, Xuchang is commonly known as Back Shadow Temple and is known as "the first Zen forest in Zhongzhou". The magical "Qianming Xiaozhong" in the temple, which chimes without knocking, is a great anecdote and is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiangcheng during the Ming Dynasty. Qianming Temple was first built in the 16th year of Emperor Kaihuang's reign in the Sui Dynasty (569). In the first year of Qingtai in the later Tang Dynasty (934), Zen Master Xing Nian expanded it and gradually grew in size. In the early Yuan Dynasty, it was burned by soldiers.
