Noto is a city in the province of Syracusa in southeastern Sicily, Italy. On January 11, 1693, the old town of Noto was completely destroyed by an earthquake. Under the ingenious design of urban planners and architects, local residents rebuilt eight new Baroque-style towns here. In 2002, Noto and its church were listed as a World Heritage Site for its excellent late Baroque architectural style.

Noto is a town with a unique temperament. The fictional town in the movie "Sicily's Beautiful Legend" was filmed here. The Spanish Baroque architectural style influenced the churches, palaces, monasteries and squares here. Most of the buildings in the town are built with gilded stones: colorful windows, complex loggias, stairs and bell towers, everywhere are engraved with statues of little lions, angels, gorgons and monsters. The atmosphere is classical and quiet. The most important building in the town is the Catholic Church. Cathedral of Noto (Noto Cathedral), all other buildings in the city are built radially with it as the center.

How to get there:

Noto is located in the southern part of Sicily. From the Interbus station in Cantania, the tourist center of the eastern part of the island, there are tourist buses to the southern towns of Syracusa and Noto. It takes about an hour to reach Syracusa, and from there it is another half an hour south to Noto.
