Hangzhou Yuewang Temple Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:

Hangzhou Yuewang Temple was built to commemorate Yue Fei, the great anti-golden hero in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is located in the northwest corner of West Lake and on the north side of the western section of Beishan Road. The temple was first built in the 14th year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty (1221), and was renamed "Zhonglie Temple" during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty. The existing building was rebuilt in the 54th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1715 AD) and later renovated. Yue Fei was the main general who fought against the Jin soldiers in the early Southern Song Dynasty. He was later framed by Qin Hui, Zhang Jun and others for rebelling against the imperial court on "unfounded" charges, and was framed to death. Before he was killed, he wrote in his confession "The sky is clear, the sky is clear". After he was killed, jailer Wei Shun risked his life and carried Yue Fei's body across the city wall, and he was buried hastily next to the Jiuqucong Temple. Twenty-one years later, Song Xiaozong ordered Yue Fei Zhaoxue and offered a high reward of 500 guan for Yue Fei's body, which was moved and buried at the foot of Qixia Ridge with a grand ceremony. In the fourth year of Jiatai (1204), the court posthumously named him King of E. Yuewang Temple is located at No. 80 Beishan Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
