Scenic spot introduction:

Nihewan National Nature Reserve is located in Yangyuan County, Yu County, Hebei Province, and the Yanbei area of ​​Shanxi Province. It covers an area of ​​1,015 hectares. There are fourth-level standard strata from 2 to 3 million years ago in the reserve. Nihewan geological relics are distributed in Yangyuan and Yuxian areas of Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, more than 100 kilometers away from Beijing. There are rich mammal fossils and a large number of Paleolithic archaeological remains buried here. It has the most cross-sections and the best preservation in the world. It is the Quaternary standard stratum recognized by the international geological and archaeological community. It is the only Early Pleistocene Stone Age in the world. The site and its investigation and excavation were rated as one of the 100 major archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century.
