Scenic spot introduction:

Huozhou Thousand Buddha Cliff, commonly known as Shifo Cliff, also known as Buddha Gorge, is located more than 100 meters west of Guozhuang Village, Xinzhi Town, 7.5 kilometers south of Huozhou City. Thousand Buddha Cliff is a group of stone sculptures, facing east to west, backed by the Universiade Highway, and facing the Qianli Fen River. The terrain is high in the east and low in the west, with gentle slopes extending to the bank of Fen River. The cliff statues on Thousand Buddha Cliff were carefully carved in the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties. There are more than 1,000 large and small Buddha statues. The cliff face is 5.2 meters wide from east to west and 12.3 meters long from north to south, covering a total area of 640 square meters. Among the Buddha statues, the largest one is 8 meters high. It was carved during the Changqing period of the Tang Dynasty and is the main Buddha of the Thousand Buddha Cliff stone carvings. There is also a statue of Avalokitesvara with Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes, which is 2 meters high. Most of the other small Buddhas have three bodies and one niche (one Buddha and two Bodhisattvas or one Buddha and two disciples). There are also single Buddhas and one niche. The stone is preserved in only 120 square meters. There are 65 Buddhas. The existing stone Buddhas have inscriptions such as "the second year of Changqing in the Tang Dynasty" and "the inscription of the fifth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty". Judging from this, there were cliff statues in all dynasties from the Tang Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty.
