Caoyutang Forest Park integrates cultural and historical sites with wild mountain scenery. It is named after the ancestors of the Wu surname who built a pond here to raise fish. It is located in the vast mountains at the eastern foot of Chimu Mountain in Jingning County with an altitude of more than 1,000 meters. The park is between 800 and 1,500 meters above sea level, with steep terrain, undulating forest waves, and a primeval forest scenery. The forest coverage rate is as high as 97.3%. The excellent natural ecological environment has given birth to rich wild animal and plant resources. Stepping into the grass carp pond, a strange feeling will arise spontaneously. Walking along the tree-lined avenue, you can hear the tinkling of clear springs, the chirping of birds, and the chirping of insects. Climbing high and looking out, you can see the beautiful peaks, criss-crossing ravines, green sky and earth, cool climate, lush grass and green trees, and it can be called a "paradise", "cool world" and "green pearl".

Caoyutang forest area is one of the 21 rare tree introduction bases in the country: there are Japanese big-leaf cedar and North American cedar with attractive fragrance; Japanese cypress and Japanese cypress that are shaped like pagodas; there are also golden pine, Japanese fir, etc. Rare tree species, as well as American giant sequoias, sequoias and other precious trees known as the "World's Masters".
