Lake Karakul is a plateau lake with an altitude of 3,600 meters. Because of its deep and dark water, it is named "Karakul" (meaning black lake in Kirgiz language). Karakul Lake is located next to the China-Pakistan Highway in Subashi, Bulunkou Township, Akto County. It is 3,600 meters above sea level and more than 30 meters deep. The lake surface is about 10 square kilometers. It is composed of two connected lakes, one in front and one in back. Therefore, it is also called "Sister Lake" locally.

Attractions distribution:

Karakul Lake and Bulunkul Lake are both located in Bulunkou Township on the Pamir Plateau in Aktau County. They are only about ten kilometers apart in a straight line. However, the scenery of the two lakes is quite different. Compared with Lake Lenkul, there are no waterfowl or waterfowl on the surface of Lake Karakul. Except for the grass on the lakeside, there is absolutely no life in the lake. Every time after sunrise in the early morning, the sparkling lake water continues to flow with time. The ground is changing, and with the change of the sun, the lake water is sometimes blue, sometimes light yellow, sometimes orange, so it is also called the "color-changing lake"; Gongger Mountain and Gongger Jiubie Peak to the west of the lake and Mu to the east Shitag Mountain co-occupies the West Kunlun Mountains and is known as the three famous peaks of the East Pamir Plateau. To the south of the lake is a grassland. When summer comes, the water here is clear and the grass is abundant. The lakes and mountains are beautiful, and the green grass is covered with white yurts. The scattered stars and the reflection of the bright icebergs in the clear lake water complement each other, and the scenery is like a dream.
