The Karamay River is my country's only artificial river scenic spot built in the Gobi Desert. Karamay is an emerging oil industry city located in the Gobi Desert. The climate is characterized by dry, windy, and little rain. It has been in a state of water and oil conservation for a long time. As early as In the 1950s, Karamay's domestic water supply relied on horses and camels, and people had to transport water from salty (fresh) lakes dozens of miles away. In order to maintain the long-term vitality of Karamay, the hard-working Karamay people built An artificial river was built, which attracted sweet river water. The completion of the water diversion project and the opening of water not only laid a solid foundation for the development of the city, but also greatly improved the harsh ecological environment of Karamay, making the city of Karamay more beautiful, more charming, and full of vitality.

The Karamay River, commonly known as the river across the city, was completed on August 8, 2000. The river flows in from the northeast of the city, starting from the Jiulongtan Scenic Area. The river meanders through the city and finally flows into Ayikule (West Moon) in the southwest of the city. The Lake (Tan) Scenic Area is divided into three major scenic areas from east to southwest: Jiulong Pond, the landscape belt on both sides of the river, and Century Park. The total length is 8.51 kilometers. The main river is 15 meters wide. Some river surfaces are nearly 100 meters wide, and the water depth is 1.8 to 2.3 meters. The Karamay River is famous for its many bridges. In addition to the Friendship Bridge, known as the "Gateway to Karamay", the other four traffic bridges are Jungar Bridge, Kunlun Bridge, Shengli Bridge and Xihuan Bridge, and there are 15 other pedestrian bridges and non-motorized bridges. Distributed in different river sections, with various shapes and postures.
