Nanchang University is the only "211 Project" key university in Jiangxi Province jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province. It is currently the strongest institution of higher learning in Jiangxi Province. The school is located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River that is known as "a treasure of nature, a place of outstanding people" and a "city of heroes". Its predecessor can be traced back to the Jiangxi Public Medical College founded in 1921 and the National Chung Cheng University founded in 1940.
