Scenic spot introduction:

The Liao Zhongjing site in Ningcheng County is one of the better preserved city sites in the Liao Dynasty. It was the largest companion capital of the Liao Dynasty in ancient times. Liao Zhongjing was built in 1007. Due to its superior geographical location, it played an extremely important role in the military, political and economic aspects of Liao. It changed its name several times from the Later Jin Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty, and fell into ruins during the Yongle period. In 1959, the cultural relics team of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region conducted archaeological excavations at the site. In 1961, the State Council of the People's Republic of China announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Attractions distribution:

The Liao Zhongjing site imitates the urban layout of Kaifeng, Bianjing in the Northern Song Dynasty, and consists of three parts: the outer city, the inner city and the imperial city. The outer city is rectangular, and inside the city there are the famous North and South Towers, the Daming Tower and the Small Tower. In the central part of the inner city and to the north of the outer city, there is an avenue about 40 meters wide that goes straight into the palace city. The palace city is located in the center of the northern part of the inner city and is square in shape. The palace ruins within the city site are clearly visible. The Liaozhongjing Ruins Tourist Area is based on the ruins and expands the surrounding cultural landscape. Visitors can visit the Daming Pagoda, Jin Xiao Pagoda, Lotus Pagoda, Yangdemen Site and Liao Zhongjing Museum to experience the magnificence and glory of the Liao Dynasty.
