Beihang University is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and is a key university in the construction of the national "211 Project" and "985 Project". It is a multidisciplinary, open, research-oriented university with aerospace characteristics and engineering technology advantages. It shoulders the historical mission of cultivating high-level talents, basic and forward-looking scientific research, and strategic high-tech research. Beihang University is also a school jointly established by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. It is the first aerospace institution of higher learning in New China.

Beihang University was founded in October 1952 by merging the aviation departments of eight famous universities at that time, including Tsinghua University and Beiyang University. The school is located in the high-tech core area of ​​Zhongguancun, Beijing, adjacent to the National Olympic Sports Center. It is the first key aviation institution of higher learning in New China. Currently, Beihang University has two campuses: the old campus is at No. 37 Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing; the new campus is at Shahe Campus in Changping, Beijing.
