Later, it went through three stages: the Tibet Military Region Cadre School, the Tibet Local Cadre School, and the Tibet Administrative Cadre School. With the development of Tibet's education, in order to solve the problem of shortage of primary and secondary school teachers, in 1965, the first normal school in the Tibet Autonomous Region was established on the basis of the Tibet Administrative Cadre School. In 1975, on the basis of the Tibet Normal School, the first higher normal college in Tibet's history, the Tibet Normal College, was established. In July 1985, Tibet University was established on the basis of the Tibet Normal College. In 1999, the Tibet Autonomous Region Art Technical School was merged into Tibet University. In 2001, the Tibet Medical College and the Medical Department of the Tibet Nationalities College were merged into Tibet University.
The former Tibet Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College is the only higher agricultural college in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Its predecessor was the Linzhi Branch of Tibet Nationalities College. It began to be planned in 1971 and was officially named Tibet Agriculture and Animal Husbandry College in 1978.
