National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan is one of the top universities in Taiwan. Mei Yi-qi, who served as the president of Tsinghua University in Beijing, is also the founding president of Tsinghua University in Taiwan. Tsinghua University in Hsinchu is positioned as a research university and is one of the four most important universities in Taiwan (National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Chiao Tung University).

National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, also known as "National" Tsinghua University (English: National Tsing Hua University, NTHU), referred to as Tsinghua or Tsinghua, was formerly the Tsinghua School established in Beijing in 1911. In 1925, the university department was established. During the Anti-Japanese War, it moved west to Kunming and formed the National Southwest Associated University with the National Peking University and the private Nankai University. After the Chinese Civil War, Tsinghua University was divided into two. The Tsinghua University in Beijing was taken over by the government of the People's Republic of China, and the Taiwan authorities allowed Tsinghua University to resume school in Hsinchu City, Taiwan Province in 1955. At the beginning of the resumption of school, the Institute of Atomic Science was first established. In 1964, the university department was restored. At present, there are seven colleges of science, engineering, atomic science, humanities and social sciences, life sciences, electrical information and technology management; there are a total of 17 departments, 19 independent research institutes, and the campus covers an area of 105.5 hectares.
