Yuhai Tower is where Sun Yirang, the master of Confucian classics, studied. It has a history of 115 years and is one of the four major libraries in Jiangnan. Yuhai Building is located in the front street of Chengguan Daoyuan, Ruian. It was founded in 1888 by Sun Yiyan and Sun Yirang. Because Sun and his son admired the Southern Song Dynasty scholar Wang Yinglin for his rich writings, they named the building after his masterpiece "Yuhai" to express the collection of books. As precious as jade, as vast as the sea.” When the building was first built, it contained 80,000 to 90,000 volumes of books, and now it has a collection of more than 30,000 volumes. It is world-famous for its collated editions by many famous writers, documents of Duoou counties, villages and states, and the editions of Sun and his son's manuscripts.

Yuhai Building covers a total area of 8,000 square meters. It faces south and is surrounded by rivers on three sides. It has three entrances from the front and back, corridors on the left and right, and a garden at the back. On the three axes of the east and west, there are Yuhai Library, Baijin Taozhai, and Sun Yirang respectively. The former residence and back garden combine the function of a library, the characteristics of excellent residential buildings in southern Zhejiang and the style of private gardens. It houses the Sun Yirang Memorial Hall, the Ruian Folk Cultural Relics Exhibition Room and the Temporary Exhibition Room.
