Shuodu Lake is located about 35 kilometers northwest of Jiantang Town, Shangri-La, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is also known as "Dugang Lake". "Du" means cheese in Tibetan and "Du" means stone. Legend has it that an eminent monk traveled around in ancient times. Here, the herdsmen offered cheese to him. He was overjoyed to see that the cheese from the Duogang Lake Cow Farm was as strong as a stone, so he prayed that the cheese here would always be as strong as a stone, which is how Duogang got its name.The Shuodu Lake area has an altitude of 3,705 meters and a water area of 15 square kilometers. The lake is rippling with blue waves, surrounded by lush green mountains, quiet and distant forests, and cattle and sheep weaving by the lake. It is a good place to experience the scenery of lakes, mountains and Tibetan customs.

Every spring and summer, herds of cattle and sheep cruise along the mountain lakes, carrying green mountains on their backs, which is very beautiful.
There are three options for visiting Shudu Lake: the first is not to stop, but take a tour bus to the next scenic spot in Pudacuo. It is suitable for friends who don’t have much time and just want to take a look, or for friends and the elderly who are unwell. etc. (extremely not recommended). The second is to take a boat, pass through the lake, browse the lake scenery and take a look at the surrounding scenery. It takes about thirty minutes and the boat fare needs to be paid separately. The third is to walk along the wooden plank road by the lake, which is 2.2 kilometers in total, and enjoy the scenery of the lake while walking (highly recommended).
