Larung Gar Buddhist College in Sedar, Sichuan is the largest Tibetan Buddhist college in the world. The college is located in a ravine called Larung Valley, more than 20 kilometers away from Sedar County. The valley is about 7 kilometers long, with continuous ridges and a quiet valley. The mountains are lush and green, the grass is green; the sky is blue, white clouds meet, and the wind and horses are flying; the red wooden houses are staggered next to each other, which is breathtaking; the temples are golden and green, and the Buddhist halls are grand and spectacular.

Larung Gar Buddhist College is located in Seda County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It aims to inherit and develop Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, and traditional Buddhist culture. It is located at an altitude of 3,700 meters. There are several Buddhist temples at the bottom of the valley and on the mountain ridges. Although the temples and Buddhist halls are not very large in scale, their decorations are exquisite and splendid; lamas and nuns in red robes come and go, and the air is full of vitality and peace.
Origin of Larung Gar Buddhist College: In 1980, Master Xinlong Lama Jigme Phuntsok, regardless of his old age and frailty. He came to Larung Gorge, a deserted place with extremely difficult living conditions, and started from scratch, establishing a Buddhist scripture study site with only 32 students. After several years of development, the scale of the study point has continued to expand, and its popularity has also increased. In 1987, the Vice Chairman of the Panchen Lama approved the establishment and inscribed the name of the school "Sethar Larung Monastery Wuming Buddhist College"; in 1992, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme inscribed the college; in 1993, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Zhao Puchu, the chairman and president of the Buddhist Association of China, happily inscribed the house number of "Sedara Larung Five Ming Buddhist College" in Chinese on the college; in 1997, the Garze Prefecture Religious Affairs Bureau reported to the Sichuan Provincial Religious Affairs Bureau for approval, and officially approved the establishment of "Sedara Larung Wu Ming Buddhist College". Rongsi Wuming Buddhist Academy".
Larung Gar Buddhist College has a very rich curriculum focusing on Tibetan culture, which is mainly distributed in the three departments of common culture, exoteric teaching, tantra and Chinese monks. The Han Monk Division is mainly set up for believers from the Han region who come here to study. It is divided into junior, intermediate and advanced classes. They can take elective courses in various departments, and a beginner class in Tibetan language is also opened. The Buddhist College currently has more than 100 high-level teachers and four teachers who are proficient in Chinese and Tibetan languages, and is equipped with relatively complete teaching facilities. There are more than 5,000 Buddhist monks and students from Tibetan, Han, Mongolian and other ethnic groups in the college. .

How to get there:

1. Buy a bus to Luhuo or Kangding at Chengdu Xinnanmen Station. It is easier to find a bus to the college in Luhuo (no shuttle bus, 4 hours' journey). Xinnanmen Station → (1 day) → Kangding → (half day) → Luhuo → (4 hours) → Seda.

2. Buy a bus to Malkang at Chengdu Chadianzi Station. After arriving at Malkang, there is a daily shuttle bus to Faseda. Chadianzi Station → (nearly 1 day) → Malkang → (half a day) → Seda.

3. After taking a flight to Chengdu Airport, take a flight to Huanglong Airport (at Jiuzhaigou), and then take a bus to get there in 10 hours.
