Yili Normal University is known as a garden-style school, with more than 60% of the campus’ green area. It is a general higher normal school managed by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The predecessor of the college was the Xinjiang Provincial Ili College established in 1948. It was later renamed Ahematijiang College and Ili Normal School. In May 1980, with the approval of the State Council, it was upgraded to a full-time general undergraduate higher education institution and named Yili Normal University. It is located in Yining City, the capital of the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, which enjoys the reputation of "Jiangnan beyond the Great Wall". Yili Normal University has a beautiful natural environment and complete teaching facilities, making it an ideal place for learning and scientific research.
