Introduction to the statue of Shi Naian: There is a sculpture of Shi Naian, the author of Water Margin, at the entrance of the scenic spot. He holds the manuscript in his hand and stares at the vicissitudes of the ancient Water Margin Village, as if he is concentrating on conceiving his grand masterpiece.
Shi Naian was born in October 1296 AD. His ancestral home is Baiju Town, Dafeng County, Jiangsu Province. He was a famous novelist in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. The stories of Liangshan heroes are clearly recorded in history books such as "History of the Song Dynasty" and "The Legacy of Xuanhe of the Song Dynasty". Their legends have been widely circulated among the people as early as the Southern Song Dynasty. Shi Naian integrated, adapted and artistically processed these records, legends, scripts and dramas, and wrote the cultural masterpiece "Water Margin".
