Introduction to the Memorial Square: In the center of the Memorial Square is the "Monument to the Departure of the Central Red Army's Long March". The monument is 19.34 meters high and the base is 10.18 meters long. It symbolizes that Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other Central Revolutionary Military Commission, central agencies and central leaders crossed the river here on October 18, 1934. The body of the monument is shaped like a double sailing boat, symbolizing the Central Red Army's sailing expedition. The three giant reliefs on the base of the stele are themed respectively with "assembly", "departure" and "dedication". The surrounding fences are engraved with the eight main ferries where the regiments of the Central Red Army crossed the river and set off. A schematic map of the Long March route of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army is laid out in the middle of the square. You can understand the Long March process from the Central Red Army's departure from Yudu in October 1934 to its arrival in Huining, Gansu in October 1936 when the three main forces joined forces.
