Introduction to Taisho Pond: Taisho Pond was formed due to a volcanic eruption and a large amount of debris flow intercepted the Azusa River, thus forming the pond. After the trees were submerged in water, only their dry trunks remained. When shrouded in the glow or morning fog, the dead trees echoed with the water to form a dreamlike scene. When the weather is clear, the volcano and the Hotoko Mountains are reflected on the lake, making it a representative and beautiful sight of Kamikochi.
