Introduction to the Weston Monument: Walter Weston (1861-1940) was the British man who made the "Japanese Alps" famous around the world. After graduating from Cambridge University, he was sent by the Church of England and came to Japan for the first time at the age of 27. Later, as a mountaineer, he conquered famous peaks across Japan and compiled his records in the book "Mountaineering and Exploration in the Japanese Alps" Among them, it is widely circulated around the world. Because the relief at the attraction was seriously damaged, the current relief was rebuilt by Ichiro Sato in 1965. The "Weston Festival" is held every June, and there is an endless stream of tourists coming to view the Weston Monument.
