Introduction to the Maquan Gou Site: The Maquan Gou Site is located in the southwest of Cenjiawan Village, Datianwa Township, Yangyuan County. In 1992, a team led by Xie Fei of the Hebei Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau conducted continuous excavations. In 2001, the III cultural layer was excavated and a "dining table" of ancient humans dating back 2 million years was discovered: in the southern area of the excavation, a group of mainly elephant skeletons were scattered, with stone products and animal remains scattered in between. It is an ancient human dining scene made of natural stones. Most of the bones have marks of chopping and scraping. It vividly shows the scene of ancient humans eating elephants in groups, scraping meat for food, breaking bones and sucking marrow. It provides precious scientific information for studying human behavior at that time.
