Building introduction: Alcatraz Island was a place where the U.S. federal government used to imprison serious criminal prisoners. Villains imprisoned here include Chicago's "Godfather" Al Capone, "Birdman" Stroud (Robert Stroud), who was prolific in murdering people but was also gifted and extremely knowledgeable about birds, and the cold-blooded "Machine Gun" Killer George Kelly and others. Shops on the island sell memoirs of prisoners who have completed their sentences.
