Introduction to Dayun Temple: In 601 AD, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty Yang Jian ordered the construction of a relic pagoda and underground palace in Daxingguo Temple to support the Buddha's relics. In the Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian ordered each state to build a Dayun Temple to collect the Dayun Sutra. The Dayun Temple in Jingzhou was built on the original site of Daxingguo Temple in the Sui Dynasty. The gold coffin, silver coffin and glass bottle contained 14 Buddha bone relics and were paired with a stone letter. Inscriptions were carved around the stone letter to record the incident. In 694 AD, they were put back into the underground palace and a pagoda was built for worship.
