Introduction to St. Vincent's Cathedral: St. Vincent's Cathedral (MUNSTER ZU ST.VINZENZ), also called the Step Cathedral, was built in 1421. It took the efforts of several generations of architects and was finally completed in 1893.
The Gothic spire of the cathedral reaches into the sky and is the tallest building in the city. The spectacular "Domesday Judgment" picture and stained glass windows (1421-1450) at the entrance of the church and the beautifully carved choir seats are all worth it. At first glance, the bell cast on the church bell tower in 1611 weighs 10 tons, but the most spectacular thing is the 344 steps spiraling up from the door. Climbing up the steps, you can reach the top of the 100-meter-high church, overlooking the city and Bernese Mittelland And overlook the snow-capped peaks of the Bernese Oberland in the distance.
