Introduction to the Holy Spirit Cathedral: The Holy Spirit Cathedral is an important activity center of the Orthodox Church in Minsk. The church was built in 1633 and completed in 1642. It is a Baroque architectural style and was originally the main church of a Catholic convent. In 1860, the church was converted into an Orthodox church, and in 1870 the monastery of the Holy Spirit monks was opened in the church. In 1918, the monastery was closed and services at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit were banned. The church became a training ground for the fire brigade and later an archive. In 1943, the church began to resume Orthodox worship activities, and the affiliated monastery was also restored. In 1947, a large Orthodox cross was placed on the top of the church.
In the first half of the 1950s, the interior of the church was repaired. From the 1970s to the early 1980s, the church was last repaired and has been maintained to this day. The church enshrines religious treasures such as the icon of Our Lady of Minsk.
