Introduction to the Cave Monastery: Pechersk Monastery is also named after the cave (the cave is called Pechersky in Ukrainian). As the main and most influential Orthodox monastery, it enjoyed a great reputation before the Mongol rule. High status, known as Kiev-Pechersk-Lavra.
In the 1170s, the monastery underwent large-scale stone construction, during which the Domitian Cathedral, the Trinity Gate Chapel and the restaurant were built. The entire monastery complex was not completed until the end of the 12th century.
