Introduction to the West Gymnasium: One of the "four major buildings" in the early days of Tsinghua University, it is located in the northwest of the campus. The front pavilion was built from 1916 to 1919, designed by Murphy and constructed by Tai Lai Mao Company. The appearance adopts a Western classical form, with a Doric granite colonnade in front of the pavilion. The rear pavilion was built from 1931 to 1932, and the building facilities are cleverly connected with the front pavilion. , the architectural style is integrated. Some major historical events are also closely connected with the West End Stadium. After the May 4th Movement broke out, students at Tsinghua University held a school-wide meeting in front of the gymnasium on May 5. They chanted slogans such as "Recover Lost Land" and "Abolish Article 21" and decided to go on strike from the 6th. On May 9, another "National Humiliation Memorial Meeting" was held in the stadium. During the "December 9th Movement", the gymnasium was used as a "bunker" to protect progressive students.
