Introduction to Martin Hall: Martin Hall is currently the building where the Department of Anthropology is located. Construction started in 1905 and was completed in 1906. It is a building built of hard red bricks with reinforced concrete as the floor. It commemorates the work of Lingnan University. Henry Martin of Cincinnati, USA, who donated money to the predecessor of Lingnan Academy, named it "Martin Hall".
On May 3, 1912, Dr. Sun Yat-sen visited Lingnan Academy. He took photos with all the faculty and staff and students of the school in front of Martin Hall, and delivered a speech entitled "There is no construction without knowledge."
