Introduction to earthquake sites: Wuchang Palace, which collapsed due to the September 21 earthquake, is the only remaining temple in Taiwan that collapsed due to a major earthquake, and has become a representative attraction in Jiji. Wuchang Palace is dedicated to the North Pole Xuantian God. It was first built in the 29th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It is a very important belief center for the people of Jiji Town. The expansion of the temple began in the 1980s of the Republic of China. It took eight years and cost about NT$70 million to complete. Unexpectedly, in the year of completion, the 921 Earthquake struck and the entire temple collapsed, creating a unique landscape that witnessed a major earthquake.
