Introduction to Su Gongting: In the fourth year of Shaosheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1097), Su Shi was demoted from Huizhou, Guangdong and then demoted to Qiongzhou (now Haikou). He was resettled by the Changhua Army (now Danzhou). On the way, he learned that his younger brother Su Che had also been demoted to Huazhou (now Huazhou County, Guangdong) and resettled in Leizhou. In May, Su Shi and Su Che met in Tengzhou, went to Leizhou together, visited Lei Lake together, went boating on the lake, and returned drunk. In memory of the Su brothers, later generations renamed Lei Lake West Lake.
Su Gong Pavilion was originally named "Huxin Pavilion" and later changed to "Yezhong Pavilion", "Xinfang Pavilion" and "Er Su Pavilion". In the 23rd year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1818), the lake pavilion fell into disrepair for a long time. Xie Bangji, the county magistrate, built the pavilion and renamed it "Su Gong Pavilion", which continues to this day. In 1984, a statue of Su Shi was erected in front of the pavilion, and the famous books on the "Su Gong Pavilion" added to the cultural and historical connotation of West Lake Park.
