On July 23, 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held here. As an important physical witness to the birth and development of the Communist Party of China, it has become a revolutionary holy place that attracts worldwide attention. In March 1961, the State Council announced that the site of the National Congress of the Communist Party of China was a national key cultural relic protection unit. In June 1997, it was named a "National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base" by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.
