Scenic spot introduction:

The world-famous Colombian Gold Museum houses more than 26,000 priceless gold artifacts used by ancient Indians, as well as many jade products and the world's largest jadeite. If Bogota is the center of the legendary "Golden Kingdom", the Gold Museum is a jewel in the crown of Colombia.

Attractions distribution:

Colombia's Gold Museum is located on the east side of Santanas Park in the capital Bogota. The National Bank of Colombia collected gold jewelry, handicrafts, etc. looted by Spanish colonists and established the first gold museum in the Western Hemisphere in 1939.
At the beginning, in order to find the legendary golden country full of gold and emeralds, the Spanish conquerors landed from the Caribbean Sea and plundered along the way. No Indian tombs were spared, and even the gold ornaments worn by Indian nobles for religious or decorative purposes were robbed. However, these Spanish robbers did not waste time searching for the rare jewels buried underground, and the great works of art from the Inca Empire and Peruvian culture were easily stolen by the Spanish, melted into gold nuggets and gold bricks and shipped back to the European royal family. On the contrary, the jewelry of Colombia was safe and sound, surpassing the gold collection of Lima, Peru to become a world-class representative.
The Gold Museum aims to protect Colombia's national cultural relics. At first, there were only 14 exhibits provided by several farmers. Later, with the active support of the masses from all over the country, it gradually developed to the scale of tens of thousands of collections. Today, the Gold Museum has a total collection of more than 30,000 gold objects, including the world-famous "Monstrance" inlaid with 1,400 emeralds. Other exhibits in the museum include other ancient pottery, stone products, shell products, wood products and textiles. These objects made of "sacred metals" regarded by local culture reflect the life and thoughts of different Indian tribes that once lived in the Colombian region before the arrival of Europeans.
