Scenic spot introduction:

The Presidential Palace in Nanjing is the largest and most complete architectural complex among the remains of modern Chinese architecture. It is also one of the main representatives of the architecture of the Republic of China in Nanjing. It has now become the largest modern history museum in China. The scenic area preserves relatively complete and different styles of modern and contemporary architectural remains and famous steles scattered among them. It is a classical garden with Jiangnan characteristics. From the Opium War in 1840 to the occupation of Nanjing by the People's Liberation Army in 1949, it has repeatedly become the center of China's political and military affairs and the source of major events. It is an important site in modern Chinese history.
The Presidential Palace complex in Nanjing has a history of more than 600 years. It contains both traditional Jiangnan gardens in ancient China and architectural remains from the period of westernization in modern times. Its history can be traced back to the Guidehou Mansion and the Hanwang Mansion in the early Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, it was used as the Jiangning Weaving Bureau and the Governor-General's Office of Liangjiang. Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty used it as a temporary palace during their southern tours. After the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom established its capital in Tianjing (now Nanjing), it was expanded into the Heavenly King's Palace. On January 1, 1912, Sun Yat-sen was sworn in as the provisional president of the Republic of China. It was used as the Presidential Palace and later as the Presidential Palace of the Nanjing National Government. On April 23, 1949, the Chinese People's Liberation Army liberated Nanjing and captured the Presidential Palace in the early morning of the 24th. Nanjing was liberated. Since then, the Presidential Palace has been used as an office space for government agencies.
Today, the palace not only houses the "Sun Yat-sen, the Pioneer of the Revolution" exhibition, but also the Hong Xiuquan and the Heavenly Palace Historical Exhibition Hall. While learning about the historical culture, you can also appreciate the architectural complex that has gone through the Six Dynasties, Ming, Qing, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and the Republic of China, and ultimately laid the basic structure of today. It is a must-visit place when visiting the ancient capital of Nanjing.
