Introduction to palace buildings: The central part of the Erlitou site is the palace area. Over the past 40 years, archaeologists have discovered more than 40 underground remains of palace building foundations. Among them, Palace No. 1 is located in the center of the entire site. It is a slightly square rammed earth platform raised above the ground. It is 108 meters long from east to west and 100 meters wide from north to south. It covers an area of about 10,000 square meters and is composed of halls and verandas. It is the earliest known royal Jinluan Palace in China, and its layout has been followed by the imperial palace buildings of all dynasties.
