Introduction to the Battle Square: The Battle Square (Praça da Batalha) is named after the battle between the Moorish army and the residents of Porto in the 10th century. It was once an important transportation hub and has basically become a pedestrian area since the 1980s. The Battle Palace, built in the 18th century, is an important building on the square. Its facade is in a style between Baroque and Neoclassical. It is engraved with the coat of arms of the past owners and is now used as a post office.
