Introduction to folk houses: Folk houses are not the common round dragon houses, but the square "mansion style" houses with characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The village's 18 enclosed houses and hundreds of rooms may seem chaotically put together, but judging from its drainage system, it is actually very particular. Even if there is a heavy rainstorm in Sujiawei, the rainwater can be drained away from the culvert of the house without water accumulation. According to the elders in the village, the drainage system in Sujiawei is modeled after the Jiuqushui in front of the Su family’s ancestors’ former residence in Ji’an, Jiangxi.
