Introduction to boat-shaped piers: The foundation of Luoyang Bridge adopts "raft-shaped foundation". Ancient ancestors first used ship-borne stones to throw a large number of stones along the center line of the bridge to form a short stone embankment at the bottom of the river, and then built on the embankment. A large number of oysters were planted under the bridge piers to make the bridge foundation and the pier stones firmly cemented. This method is called the "oyster planting method", which can be described as unique.
The pier form of Luoyang Bridge is also unique. The piers are made of long staggered stones with pointed ends, which weaken the water potential and reduce the impact of waves on the piers.
