Introduction to Beiyan Peonies: Shuangxi Beiyan Temple peonies were brought back from Luoyang by Xue Wenchao, a military officer and Taiwan garrison in the Qing Dynasty. The flowers are as big as a plate and come in dark red and light red. When you pour wine on New Year's Eve, the flowers will bloom twice as red in the coming year. The aroma is strong and famous inside and outside the county. The preface to the Collected Works of Wanqingtang by Chen Gongfu of Fuzhou states: "Peony originates from Caozhou, Luoyang, with Pingnan being the most popular." Fu Zhaolun, the magistrate of the county, wrote in a poem: "One flower, one world, one flower, one terrace." Tongcheng Kaifeng's inscription on the peony of Beiyan Temple has the following sentence: "I'm going to see the flowers here to see the flowers, and I'll come back to adjust the water to separate the flowers." Because very few flowers survive transplantation, only the Song residence in the east gate and the Zhou residence in the north gate still exist, making them even more precious.
