Introduction to Tianyuan Cave: Site 27 of the Zhoukoudian site (Tianyuan Cave) is located 6 kilometers southwest of the Zhoukoudian site. It was officially excavated in 2003 by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The site is a limestone cave. The cave is about 2 meters high and 5 meters deep. The cave entrance faces due north and is 150 meters above the river bed. Ancient human fossils and a large number of animal fossils dating back about 25,000 years ago were unearthed. The geological age is late The late Pleistocene is about the same age as the cavemen.
