Attractions distribution:

The Zhoukoudian site is located in the north of Longgu Mountain, Zhoukoudian Town, Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing. It is rich in natural resources, has a warm and pleasant climate, and is suitable for ancient human habitation. From 1921 to 1927, archaeologists discovered three human tooth fossils outside the "Peking Man" cave site three times. In 1929, they also discovered a Peking Man skull fossil as well as artificial tools and fire relics. During the archaeological excavation, a total of 27 locations of various fossils and cultural relics from different periods, more than 40 fossil remains of "Peking Man", more than 100,000 stone tools, nearly 200 species of animal fossils and a large number of fire relics were discovered. Such large-scale archaeological discoveries have made the Zhoukoudian site a world-famous treasure house of human fossils and a multi-disciplinary comprehensive research base in paleoanthropology, archaeology, paleontology, stratigraphy, chronology, environmental science and karstology.
Today, the Zhoukoudian ruins scenic spot is divided into two parts: the ruins area and the museum, which are open to the audience all year round.
