Introduction to Yuhe: Yuhe is an ancient river with a long history in Beijing. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Yuhe was called Tonghui River. It was built by Guo Shoujing in the 30th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1293) and was mainly used for water transportation. After the Ming Dynasty, due to lack of water sources, the river gradually changed from 40 meters wide to about 30 meters wide, and turned into a smelly ditch before liberation. Later, the river was covered with drainage pipes and turned into an underground river. In 2007, Ping'an Avenue was built and archaeological excavations were conducted. The remains of the ancient Yuhe embankment from the Yuan and Ming Dynasties were discovered. After the construction of Ping'an Avenue, it was re-buried underground. In 2008, we began to clean up and restore the Yuhe channel ruins and build park attractions.
